Alan Abbott lives in Oakdale, California,
in the Central Valley by Modesto. He is a 4-year student from the Class of
’67. Following 2 ½ years at Pacific Union College, he transferred to Walla
Walla College where he graduated in ’72 with a B.S. in Nursing. In ’84 he
graduated with a Masters in Public Health Administration from Loma Linda
University.
His career interest and experience in
Surgical Services management has taken him to exciting positions in Hawaii
twice, Illinois, Colorado, Oregon twice, and California twice. He now
travels the country doing consulting and interim management in Surgical and
Critical Care Services. He has traveled much of the USA, Canada, Fiji,
Australia and New Zealand in addition to many cruise ship ports.
Alan is involved with his local church and
is Board Chair for the elementary school. Time reading and staying
connected with family and friends are cherished values. He is proud to be a
graduate of Rio and enjoys promoting Christian education.
As Alumni Association President, he is
committed to re-connecting former students to each other and Rio. Planning
has also begun to establish meaningful options for alumni gift giving to Rio
to help assure its financial success and high reputation for quality
Christian education.

Sondra (Truman) Horn ('71)

Sondra (Truman) Horn attended
Rio for 3 years and graduated with the Class of 1971.
After Rio, Sondra attended Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, MD. After
living in the East for many years, the family returned to
California
in 1997. Currently, she is the Division Administrator for the Pediatric
Surgery Department at
Stanford
University
.
Sondra and her husband, Bob, live in
Elk Grove ,
CA
(near
Sacramento
) and have two children, Robyn and Ian.
When asked to help with the Alumni
Association, Sondra was more than willing to help. She has been very
involved with locating classmates from the Class of '71, and helping with
various reunions, so this was an easy project to undertake. Sondra is an
avid reader and is looking forward to working with the faculty and Library
staff to bring the library more up-to-date. She is an avid quilter and for
"down time", Sondra can often be found in her sewing room, working on a new
quilt. The family is also involved with Golden Retriever Rescue.

Brad Benson,
became the Alumni and Development Director at Rio in October 2002. He and
his wife, Jeanie have three children Victoria, Grant, and Krista. The
family enjoys living here at Rio although Brad never dreamed he would ever
live on "Faculty Hill". Brad began his boarding academy experience his
Junior year, and spent two memorable years at Rio, graduating in 1972. He
served as the first president of the Rio Lindo Alumni Association for two
years and is pleased to working full-time for Rio as it's Alumni &
Development Director.
